Prosthetic Animals

2016 ( Multi-video instalation -duration variable; duckt tape, drawing on wall, painting mounted on metal frame)

Prosthetic animals depicts common aspects of precarious life by portraying ordinary people engaged in activities of everyday self-destruction. How do you put traps on yourself? How do you perform S_A_B_O_T_A_G_E?

The project has a starting point in the research on the alternative ways in which a community can be generated using tools similar to Cosplay. Cosplayers often interact to create a subculture and Cosplay (コスプレ kosupure), a contraction of the words costume play, is a performance art in which participants called cosplayers wear self-made costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character. While exploring different possibilities to communicate with thier environment, Prosthetic Animals re-enact the scenes from the wildlife documentaries inside their small apartments. Every player makes a temporary costume for a one-time performance using only the materials found in the immediate surrounding of their living space.
