Beyond the Shot

2023 (video installation, HD, 7 min. ,wood panels)

The exhibition Beyond the Shot at Manus Gallery takes its cue from Sergei Eisenstein’s 1929 essay, delving into the disorienting power of image orchestration and cinema as a montage of attractions. Wood panels structure the exhibition space, their forms inspired by architect Vjenceslav Richter’s vision to construct a pavilion from the remnants of a bridge destroyed in World War II. The installation weaves these architectural echoes with cinematic fragments, blurring the lines between historical memory and experimental storytelling. By reshaping the ruins into new forms, the work bridges past and present, revealing cinema as a space for reconstruction.
